Phobias
In this article, we will discuss almost everything about phobia. First of all, we should be aware of the accurate meaning of the word phobia. Phobia is a term of psychology that is used in some extreme and irrational conditions of fear of living or nonliving things. But it is different from just being scared of anything. Phobia is common in both genders but it has mostly founded in women, especially in developing and under-developing countries because the people in such countries have to suffer from worst and complicated situations in almost every field of life such as poverty, illiteracy, joblessness, and diseases. Due to the lack of facilities and treatments of common diseases people may suffer from any cause of the phobia. The main problem is that people who suffer from this psychological disorder are treated like normal or physical patient. So doctors often try to treat their physical symptoms but do not diagnose their actual problem. That’s why it is very important to be aware of the real issue by doctors and physicians. Usually, there are two major types of phobias which are called "certain phobia" and "social phobia".
Here is a little description of the two main types of phobia.
1.Certain Phobia
A certain phobia is fear of any living or nonliving thing. Living things such as spider, reptile, mouse, bees, and worms etc and nonliving things such as old buildings, electrical stairs, wind storms, thunderstorms, high places, ocean, elevator and sometimes electrical machines. This type of phobia is found in most people and it is generally not harmful and the sufferer often lives a normal life.
2. Social Phobia
Social phobia belongs to social situations and environments such as gatherings like parties, ceremonies, sorrows, meeting with strangers, and traveling in public transport. School phobia is the most common phobia among children all over the world.
Symptoms of phobia.
The symptoms of phobia belong to psychological and physical.
* Psychological symptoms.
Fear of death or faintness.
Fear of losing control in public.
Fear of failure in any field of life.
Fear of being disgraced and ignored.
fear of looking ugly among the people.
Fear of illness and injury etc.
*Physical symptoms
These symptoms may vary in different people and at different stages but some common physical symptoms of a phobia which belong to any gender and age are such as,
Choking or feeling like choking.
Palpitation and accelerated heart rate.
Unusual sweating.
Cold or hot flushes.
Feeling dizzy or lightheaded.
Shakiness and trembling.
Feeling pain in any part of the body for some time and get well without any medication after a while.
Treatment for phobia sufferers.
After diagnosing phobias sufferers are treated with psychotherapies and medications. Exposure therapy is the most common therapy in the treatment of phobia. Medicines should be taken after a psychiatrist or specialist doctor for the patient.
Besides the treatment, the sufferer of phobia needs more love and care from one’s family and relatives. So we should also keep in mind that if somebody in our relationship is suffering from any type of psychological disorder then we should take care of his or her and always have an open heart for his or her mistakes and misdeeds.
Thanks.
